Born: 1820  Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.  Died: 15 October 1874  Cressy, Tasmania, Australia.
William Archer, born in Launceston, Tasmania, studied architecture in England and designed many Tasmanian buildings. His interest in botany led to study at Kew Gardens, England 1856-58 and his contribution of drawings to J.D. Hooker's "Flora Tasmaniae".
