Beuzeville, James (1809 - 1887)

Born: 1 June 1809  London, England.  Died: 28 September 1887  Enfield, New South Wales, Australia.
James Beauzeville was superintendent of an "Experimental Silk Institution" at Eastwood 1848-49. This was a financial failure, although the sample skeins of silk sent to London were judged to fall somewhere between Bengal and Italian silk.

Family silk-weaving firm, London till 1827; Courtauld & Co., Essex 1827-40; in Europe, mainly Spain for Courtaulds 1840-48; arrived Sydney 1848; superintendent, "Experimental Silk Institution", Eastwood 1848-49; writing master, The King's School, Parramatta 1850-51; Beauclere Academy, Bathurst 1852-55; registrar of births, deaths and marriages for the Bathurst district 1856-70, 1873-83.
