Gilruth, John Anderson (1871 - 1937)

Veterinary scientist and Bacteriologist
Born: 17 February 1871  Auchmithie, Forfarshire, Scotland.  Died: 4 March 1937  South Yarra, Victoria, Australia.
John Anderson Gilruth was Professor of Veterinary Pathology and Director of the Veterinary Research Institute, University of Melbourne from 1908. He was Adminstrator of the Northern Territory 1912-20 and later Chief of the Division of Animal Health, CSIR. Earlier, from 1893, Gilruth was a government veterinary surgeon in New Zealand becoming Chief Veterinarian and Bacteriologist in 1897.
