Born: 30 January 1911  Bombay, India.  Died: 29 June 1996.
Alexander George Ogston was Professor of Physical Biochemistry, John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University 1959-70. He spent most of the remainder of his career at the University of Oxford.

Worked briefly as a Freedom Research Fellow, London Hospital, Fellow, Balliol College, Oxford 1937-59, Reader in Biochemistry, Oxford University 1955-59, Professor of Physical Biochemistry John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University 1959-70, President, Trinity College, Oxford 1970-78 (Honorary Fellow 1978). Member of the Ministry of Supply Research Team 1939-44 and the Inter-Service Research Bureau 1943-44. Fellow, Royal Society 1955, Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1962, Davy Medal, Royal Society 1986. Chairman of editorial board, "Biochemical Journal" 1955-59. Chairman, Central Council, Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham 1980-84.
