Alan James Parker was Professor of Chemistry, Murdoch University, Western Australia 1974-82. He studied non-aqueous hydrometallurgy, particularly relating to copper extraction, and zinc-bromine batteries.

Rennie Memorial Medal, Royal Australian Chemical Institute 1963; H.G. Smith Medal, Royal Australian Chemical Institute 1970; Fellow, Royal Australian Chemical Institute 1967; Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1979. President, Western Australian Branch, Royal Australian Chemical Institute 1982.
