Wedge, John Helder (1793 - 1872)

Surveyor and Explorer
Born: 1793.  Died: 22 November 1872  Medlands, Tasmania, Australia.
John Helder Wedge was Assistant Surveyor, Van Diemen's Land 1824-35, doing most of his work in the north-east and central highlands. In 1835 he crossed Bass Strait and explored the Barwon River. His diaries were published by the Royal Society of Tasmania in 1962.
