Cyril Percy Callister developed the commercial yeast-extract "Vegemite" in 1924 and in 1926 became chief chemist for the Kraft Walker Cheese Co., developing processed cheese. |

Born Chute, near Beaufort, Victoria, 16 February 1893. Died Melbourne, 5 October 1949. Educated University of Melbourne (BSc 1914, MSc 1917, DSc 1931). Lewis & Whitty 1915, Australian Imperial Force (Munitions Branch) 1915-19, Lewis & Whitty 1919-23, Fred Walker's 1923-26, chief chemist, Kraft Walker Cheese Co 1926-35, director from 1935. With Sir David Rivett, he secured the royal charter for the Royal Australian Chemical Institute in 1931. President, Society of Chemical Industry of Victoria 1935-36. | ||
