Born: 18 December 1812 Wells, Somerset, England. Died: 16 January 1894 Brunswick, Victoria, Australia.

George Milner Stephen had a colourful public career at law in Van Diemens Land, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria. As an amateur geologist he was interested in the precious metals and gems of Australia. Later in life he was interested in spiritualism.
