Born: 25 October 1869 Belfast, Ireland. Died: 1 March 1916 Karrakatta, Western Australia, Australia. | |
Sydney Hamilton R. Montgomery played a vital role in the treatment and management of the insane in Western Australia (WA). As Inspector General and Medical Officer for the Insane, Montgomery oversaw the running of all mental health facilities in WA and introduced the 1904 Lunacy Act and the 1912 Inebriates Act. He was also the local branch president of the British Medical Association in 1909. |
