Born: 7 September 1886  Chase, Kansas, United States of America.  Died: 9 April 1953  Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States of America.
George Ray Wait worked for the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, USA from 1920 to 1951. As part of this role he was sent to Western Australia as Observer-in-charge at the Watheroo Magnetic Observatory (1921-1924).
