Lucas, Thomas Pennington (1843 - 1917)

Born: 13 April 1843  Dunbar, Scotland.  Died: 15 November 1917.
Thomas Pennington Lucas was a medical practitioner with a keen interest in nature. He built up an impressive collection of Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths), which is now held by the South Australian Museum, and wrote widely in the field.

1876 - c. 1886Migrated to Australia (Melbourne) and set up a medical practice
1881Member of the Linnean Society of New South Wales
c. 1886 - Moved to Brisbane and continued his medical and entomological work
1914Sacred Songs and Nature Pieces book of poetry published in Brisbane (Edwards, Dunlop & Co.)
