Eric Ashby was Professor of Botany at the University of Sydney 1938-46. He was the first Director of the Scientific Liaison Bureau 1943, and Chief Scientific Liaison Officer, Medical Equipment Control Committee during World War II. |

Knight Bachelor 1956, Order of St John 1958, Life Peer as Baron Ashby of Brandon in Suffolk 1973.
