Born: 6 July 1785 England. Died: 12 August 1865. | |
William Jackson Hooker was the first director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew 1841-65, collected specimens from all parts of the world, and made Kew a focus for the collection of botanical specimens from Australia. He was the father of J.D. Hooker. |
