Born: 15 August 1809 Dublin, Ireland. Died: 12 October 1867 Windsor, Victoria, Australia. | ||
Richard Eades ran a private medical practice in Adelaide from 1849 to 1852 and in Melbourne from 1852 to 1867. He was also physician to the Melbourne Hospital (1859-66), lectured on materia medica in the Government Analytical Laboratory and began an extra-mural course for medical students, which hastened the establishment of the University of Melbourne Medical School. After completing his studies in his home country of England, Eade went to Paris to study botany and chemistry and the migrated to Australia in 1848. |
