Born: 20 March 1858  Brighton, Sussex, England.  Died: 2 September 1924  Noumea, New Caledonia.
Reuter Emerich Roth served as a medical officer in the Boer War and World War I. He was particularly interested in promoting hygiene and exercise as important to health.

1903 - 1909Chairman of the St John Ambulance Association, Sydney centre
1904Founder of the Royal Life Saving Society
1907Commonwealth representative at the International Congress of Hygiene and Demography in Berlin
1909 - Lecturer (part-time) in Anatomy, Physiology and Hygiene at Fort Street Training School, Hurlstone Training College and Sydney Technical College
1909Promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel
1914Helped to establish the State division of the British Red Cross Society
1915 - 1916Commander of the 5th Field Ambulance, Australian Army Medical Corps serving in Egypt, Gallipoli and France
1916Promoted to Colonel on 6 February
1917Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG)
1917President of the Permanent Medical Referee Board
1921Appointed Honorary Brigadier-General and transferred to the retired list
