(Sir) Richard Rawdon Stawell was honorary physician to the Children's Hospital, Melbourne from 1893-1914, to out-patients at Melbourne Hospital from 1903-19, to in-patients from 1919-24 and a consulting physician from 1924. He also had a successful private practice. He was particularly concerned with the wider responsibilities of the medical profession in society. Stawell is commemorated by the Sir Richard Stawell Oration which was given in Melbourne from 1934 to 1986. |
