John Leopold Weingarth had a private practice as a surveyor in Sydney from ca 1890. In 1919 he established the firm J. Weingarth & Sons. He was an expert in the design and formation of racecourses, including Randwick and Warwick Farm. |

Born 8 June 1862. Died 7 March 1925. Cadet draughtsman, Department of Lands, licensed as a surveyor 1883, departmental surveyor, Western Division, partnership with J.T. Cahill 1886-?, had his own firm ?-1919, established J. Weingarth & Sons 1919 (continued until the death of his son in 1962). President, Institution of Surveyors, New South Wales 1915-16. Published the standard reference "Identification Surveys: Freehold Title and Torrens Title" (1913). |
