George Bouchier Worgan was surgeon on the Sirius and maintained a diary from 20 January to 11 July 1788, which included an account of the new colony of New South Wales and a description of the land and its inhabitants. |
Career Highlights |
Christened 3 May 1757. Died 4 March 1838. Joined the navy 1775, surgeon's second mate from February 1778, naval surgeon from March 1780, 2 years on the "Pilote", "Sirius" 1786-89, Norfolk Island 1790, returned to England in the "Waaksamheyd" 1791, surgeon's mate and surgeon till ca 1800, retired on half-pay, took up farming (without much success). |
