1938	Diploma Chemistry Degree with thesis 'Preparation of anhydrous praseodymium' completed at the University of Frankfurt, Germany
1939	Married Jutta Metschke at Berlin-Zehlendorff in Germany
1941	Granted a Doctor of Natural Science (PhD) for thesis concerning fillers in plastics from the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physical Chemistry and Electro-Chemistry at Berlin-Dahlem, Germany
1941 - 1943	Worked in research and pilot plant design at Ruhrchemie AG in Oberhausen-Holten, Germany
