Leslie (Les) Christidis, senior Curator at Museum Victoria, is the author of numerous scientific publications on the evolution and systematics of birds. |
Career Highlights |
Born 30 May 1959. Educated University of Melbourne (BSc Hons 1980) and Australian National University (PhD 1985). Postdoctoral Fellow, CSIRO Division of Wildlife and Ecology 1985-86, working on the evolutionary history of Australia's birds; QEII Postdoctoral Fellow, Australian National University 1987; senior Curator, Museum of Victoria 1988-date. Research interests include conservation genetics and evolutionary studies using DNA from museum specimens. Wrote The taxonomy and species of birds of Australia and its territories (1994, with Walter Boles, q.v.). |
