Mitchell Durno (Durno) Murray worked for the McMaster Laboratory, CSIRO Division of Animal Health 1951-86, including being Officer-in-Charge 1974-77. His other interests include Antarctic biology and ornithology, in particular seabirds.

Career Highlights
Born England, 22 September 1925. Educated Royal Veterinary College, London (BSc (VetSc) 1946). Veterinary Surgeon, Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company, New Zealand 1947-49; Research Scientist, Wallaceville Animal Research Station, Department of Agriculture, New Zealand 1949-51; Research Scientist, McMaster Laboratory, CSIRO Division of Animal Health 1951-86, leader of a group studying ectoparasites of livestock 1960-77, Officer-in-charge, McMaster Laboratory 1974-77, epidemiology of arbovirus diseases 1977-86. First Regional Organiser for New South Wales, Australian Bird Banding Scheme 1954-56 and instrumental in setting up the NSW Albatross Study Group (now SOSSA); president, Australian Bird Study Association 1973-74, 1988-91, editor, Corella 1990-94, largely responsible for the Seabird Island series, which has documented and published reports on over 200 seabird breeding islands off the Australian coast.. John Hobbs Medal, RAOU 1996.
