Raymond W. Clarke joined the Army and served with the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, undertaking training as a radio technician. He worked as a radio technician and departmental manager with Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia) Ltd in Melbourne, 1956-1961, before joining the Bureau of Meteorology as a trainee Observer (Radio) in 1961, where he remained until 1979, returning to Queensland. He then worked for Telecom, introducing new systems and maintenance procedures which were instrumental in the development of and subsequent increased efficiency of the 1107 fault finding centre. He compiled Metarch Papers No. 14, documenting the stories of the Bureau's radio technical officers from 1948. |
