Arthur Melville Thompson was sometime Chief Research Scientist, CSIRO Division of Applied Physics, National Standards Laboratory. he has made major contributions to the precise measurement of physical quantities, particularly electrical.

Career Highlights
Born Adelaide, 4 January 1917. Educated University of Adelaide (BSc). Hon. Dr. Ing., Tech. Univ. of Hannover. Sperry Medal, Instrument Society of America 1965 (jointly with D.G. Lampard, qv); Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1972.
