Born: 21 October 1896 Mosman, New South Wales, Australia. Died: 15 December 1966 Honolulu, Hawaii. | ||
(Sir) Patrick Gordon (Gordon) Taylor served as a pilot in both World War I and World War II. During the 1920s and after 1935 he flew mostly as a private and charter pilot. He is best remembered for his courage during a 1935 flight form Australia to New Zealand with Kingsford Smith (qv), when he walked on the wing of the plane six times to supply oil to a failing engine. He was awarded the Empire Gallantry Medal for this. |
