Freeman, Hans Charles (1929 - )

Born: 26 May 1929  Breslau, Germany
Hans Charles Freeman is Emeritus Professor in the School of Chemistry and the School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences at the University of Sydney. He has worked at the University since 1950 and has had a fundamental impact on its inorganic chemistry research and teaching programs. Throughout his career, Freeman was also a regular invited visitor to many overseas institutions. Freeman’s main area of research is in biological inorganic chemistry, using both X-ray and neutron crystal structure analysis. He has authored over 170 works and has served on numerous national and international committees and boards, only some of which are listed below. Freeman is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSChem). In 2005 Freeman he was appointed a Member in the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his contributions to science.
