Lorimer, James (1831 - 1889)

Born: 30 March 1831  Dumfriesshire, Scotland.  Died: 6 September 1889.
(Sir) James Lorimer was a successful merchants and shipping agent in Victoria during the mid to late1800s. He was also a respected parliamentarian and was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG ) in 1887. Lorimer is thought to have co-patented 'Improvements in the Mode of Preserving Animal and vegetable Substances' in 1863.
